BIOGRAPHY

Ginka Uchkova started her journey in the world of classical music at age of 6, first with taking piano lessons and singing in the Children's Choir in her hometown. At age of 16 she continued with opera singing and received her first singing lesson from Tsvetomira Gitsova. She obtained a Bachelor of science degree from Academy of Music, Dance and Fine Art in Plovdiv, Bulgaria with specialisation in Pedagogy of music in opera singing. She also holds a Master of science degree in opera singing from New Bulgarian University, Sofia. During her master study she performed the roles of the Wife ("I Mantici" by G.C.Menotti), Lissette ("Coffee Cantata) by J.S.Bach, Vespetta ("Pimpinone" by Telemann, 2nd boy, 2nd lady and Papagena ("The magic flute" by Mozart), Despina ("Cost fan tutte" by Mozart) 
After her graduation she worked as a vocal coach and pedagogue in one of the most prestigious Bulgarian music schools and as a teaching assistant at university level at Academy of Music, Dance and Fine Art, Plovdiv, Bulgaria. 
In 2012 she moved to the Netherlands to specialize in opera singing as a contract student at ArtEZ, Enschede.
Her repertoire includes classical opera roles by Mozart,
Smetana, Masennette, Donizetti, Gounod;
songs by Schubert, Schumman, Brahms, Wolf, Faure etc;
Russian romances by Rachmaninoff, Glinka, Tchaikovsky, as well as modern compositions by Samuel Barber, G. Carlo Menotti, Bulgarian and Dutch contemporary composers. 
As a vocal coach G.Uchkova follows a systematic method of voice development adapted to the needs of the voice type. She is a devoted and ambitious coach determined to bring her best expertise and experience in developing the vocal skills of singers.
